Period films are the name of the game in this category. Production design refers to the set and set decoration of a film so the bigger the better. Best Picture frontrunner 12 Years a Slave is definitely a frontrunner here as well. Although period pieces are usually the strongest here, it looks like fellow Best Picture frontrunner Gravity could end up reaping a bid as well.
