Not since Ordinary People in 1991 has a film won Best Picture without at least a nomination for Best Film Editing, so the nominees of this category get an automatic boost. Among the nominees should be Best Picture frontrunners 12 Years a Slave, Gravity, and Captain Phillips. After that, the field gets a little messy.
